generational wondering

I can’t remember my great-great grandmother’s name but she was the first in our lineage to have an English last name. I’ve been wondering about her a lot lately. Did she dance or sing? Who’d she fall in love with? What kind of jokes did she tell? What was her spiritual belief system like? Does she know about me and the things I’ve been going through? Is she with me in the way I carry myself and speak my mind? Has she ever been recognized by the echo of her laughter, like her daughters are today, except people heard it bounce off the earth and not the halls of a building? What is it about us that survives? What will I continue from here?
